Monday 6/25/2012 Announcements

Good Morning Everyone!

It's time for the Monday morning announcements and prayer requests.

Sometime over the weekend, the blog hit the 500 page view mark.  Yay!  Thank you to anyone who checks out the blog.  (In case you are wondering, blogger.com tacks the page views.  I did not install a page counter anywhere on the site.)

Verse of the Month Pop Quiz:  *HH* and *JD* both passed the pop quiz yesterday morning.  Thank you for memorizing the verse.  July is a new month with a new verse.  When I get the new verse, I will post it on the website.

Youth Group Summer Speaker: A big thank you to Pastor Jim as he spoke with the Youth Group on Wednesday.  I have heard only positive reviews, and I am very thankful that Pastor Jim was able to speak on such short notice.  Thank you, Pastor Jim!  This coming Wednesday, Frank is coming to speak.  So, come out to the Youth Group Wednesday night.

General Announcement: Can you believe that this is my 3rd year as one of the Youth Group Leaders?  The time has gone by so quickly.  One of the things that I enjoy about being part of the Youth Group Leadership is that I can help mold the Youth Group into a fun, holy, and God-centered program that can make a positive difference in Youth's lives.  Thanks to the Youth Group Summer Speakers, the time that I would normally devote to lessons, I devoted to brainstorming some ideas to improve the Youth Group.  I'll be presenting some of my ideas to the Youth Group this Wednesday before Frank takes center stage.

I have a prayer request for some of my friends and church family members.  I'm intentionally keeping this one vague as it's very sensitive.  Please pray for them as they are going through a tough time.  Please pray that God continues to provide for them in their time of need.  Please pray that God grants them wisdom and clarity in all of their decisions.  Please pray that God comforts them and grants them peace during their trials and tribulations.

I have another prayer request for the father of one of our church family members.  He is not doing well, and the Lord may call him home at any time.  I am at a lose for words, so please, pray that the family feels the mighty hand of God working in their lives, and pray that God eases his suffering.

While I was writing the last two prayer requests, a song popped into my head.  It's called "Blessings" by Laura Story.  It's a simple, longing song.  The song is a (poignant) reminder that what we pray for may not be what we truly need.  One verse of the song says "The pains reminds this heart that this is not, that this is not our home."  We should all thank the good Lord that the life that we have is not the end of what we have. This world will fade away, but God's kingdom and glory will last forever.

-Michael
